About Kathy Oros:
I first started out as a clown doing volunteer work on behalf of
Louisville KY Hospice organization. I then branched out and
started doing birthday parties as a clown professionally. In 2003
I attended the Kentucky Clown Derby here in Louisville KY ; where I took
my first face painting class and I was hooked. I painted for one year at the
Georgetown Indiana optimist club. I then painted for another year
at Gatti Land in Louisville KY where I was just doing face painting as a
hobby but when people starting calling Gatti Land to see if I was there
I knew then it was time to take it to the next level and start my
business. During that 2 year period I had read an article by Genevieve Jinny Houle,
who is a very famous artist in the makeup industry, about deciding on whether you wanted to face paint for quantity
versus quality. I decide at that moment that I wanted to paint for
quality. I
wanted people to say "WOW" when I painted at their parties.
My oldest daughter Renee
helped me design my website and once the website was up my business
really started taking off.
I went to my first
face painting convention back in 2006 and knew that this convention was
the place to meet new people and to meet and learn from
the worlds best artist in this business. Every year that I have attended
the
Face and Body Art
International Convention
(FABAIC) in Orlando the
quality of my work gets better and better. I do invest in
classes and conventions as I take this art form seriously. I was
asked to be an instructor at the 2009 and again at the 2010
Face and Body Art
International Convention
. FABAIC is a great convention
and I enjoy going and participating in it every time I go.
I come from a family of artist.
My mother does watercolors, and loves to paint ceramics and making
quilts. My oldest
half sister Jeannie Watson created amazing stain glass windows.
Her work can be seen in some of the large churches in Milwaukee WI and all over the US.
